Our Boat the MV ANDAMAN

26m long and with a steel hull

The M/V Andaman gives the smoothest possible ride through the waves.

We take a maximum of 20 customers, 5 dive guides, and 6 boat crew. With 3 decks, you will never feel crowded on board. Our fun-loving crew has been with us for many years and provides very attentive service. Our dive guides are passionate about the ocean and they will share fun facts during each dive briefing.

Delicious, freshly cooked meals are provided by our cook, plus snacks and plenty of fresh tropical fruit. On the last night of our 3-day and 4-day trips, we hold our popular barbecue evening on the top deck. This is a unique and memorable evening, much loved by our guests.

The M/V Andaman has three full-length decks and the unusual feature of a split-level sun deck. We have FIVE different areas for relaxing! Socialize around the tables on the main deck. Relax in a hammock. Stretch out on a sun mattress. Cozy up in a bean bag on the top deck. Or take a break in your air-con cabin.

We have very high safety standards and we are fully equipped with 2x Life Rafts, Radar, GPS, VHF radio, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, 100% oxygen, first aid kit, lifejackets, and 2 dinghies.

We are sure you’ll love your time on board with us as much as you will love diving these world-famous dive sites.

THE LOWER DECK

This is where we dive and sleep. All cabins are air-conditioned with personal reading lights, 220v plug sockets, and storage space.

We have:

  • two ensuite double cabins
  • two standard double cabins
  • two six-berth cabins with individual single bunks
  • Every cabin has a window so you can see the sea

The three bathrooms with toilets and hot water showers are in the middle of this deck. Plus three hand-wash basins with mirrors, located separately.

At the stern is the dive deck, which is where your equipment and tanks live. Just two groups will kit up at a time and our attentive boat crew will be on hand to help you. So much so, that they often seem to be everywhere at once! Here we also have freshwater tanks so you can rinse your computers, torches, and cameras after diving. The large dive platform has two ladders and two freshwater showers for a quick rinse after diving or swimming.

THE MIDDLE DECK

The middle deck is the central communal area, where we all meet for dive briefings and meals. Our large, shaded dining area takes up most of this deck, with the open sides making the most of the sea breeze. Don’t worry, we also have rain covers, just in case!

In the service area, you can help yourself with hot drinks, cold soft drinks, cornflakes, fruit, and cookies. The middle deck is a great place to hang out, fill in your logbook, and look through our selection of fish identification books. In the evenings, we have a selection of cold local beers and wine for sale and you can enjoy swapping dive stories, a game of chess, or play cards.

The two large wooden dining tables, surrounded by cushioned seating, encourage a lively, social atmosphere. Feel free to move around at mealtimes and meet your fellow divers.

The rest of the middle deck houses the staff quarters, galley, and wheelhouse.

THE UPPER DECK

M/V Andaman THE UPPER DECK Our favourite deck! Running the full length of the boat, our split-level deck is quite unique.

The open-air sundeck has sun mattresses and bean bags and is the best place for sun worshipers. Enjoy the panoramic views, catch the sea breeze or have a quiet morning coffee watching the sunrise.

Under a shaded sunroof, the center of the top deck has a wooden table and benches. On the last night of the trip, we host our famous BBQ evening here.

Next, there is a large platform with padded mattresses and HAMMOCKS! This is a popular spot for reading, relaxing, and afternoon naps.

And finally, at the stern is our much-loved open-air star deck, filled with comfy beanbags. A spiral staircase takes you back down to the dining deck if you need to grab another cold drink.

DINING ONBOARD

THE MV ANDAMAN

We know our freshly-prepared onboard meals will be a highlight of your dive trip – expect to gain a few kilos!

Before the first dive each morning, help yourself to a mug of tea, coffee, or chocolate and a light snack from the service area.

Breakfast is western with bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, and potatoes. Fresh bread, toasters, and a selection of jams and fruit are available. We also prepare a pot of rice soup every morning if you would like to try a traditional Thai breakfast.

Lunch and dinner are Thai-style, with a selection of our favourite recipes. Enjoy (not-too-) spicy curries, coconut soups, fresh vegetables, and whole fried fish. We have fresh seasonal fruit for dessert after every meal.

Afternoons mean snack time after dive number three. Cornflakes and fruit are also always available. Oh, and the cookie jar is never far away! Tell us in advance if you have personal dietary requirements so our cook can prepare something to suit you.

On the final evening onboard we invite you to join us for a BBQ on the open-air sundeck. This night is a real team effort! The boat boys will cook the barbecue, the dive staff mixes our signature cocktail, while our cook prepares handmade sauces. It’s usually a fun, lively night and leaves fond memories of your time with us on a Sea Dragon liveaboard.
